About me

I was lucky to be born on the most beautiful island in the world. My mother, from Liverpool, told my brother and me so every day after kissing us good morning as we woke up: “You don’t know how lucky you are to be born in Majorca” she used to say, to which we replied: “Yes, mum…” maybe in a subtle (sometimes not so subtle) condescending way but I never quite grasped what she meant until I started travelling and spending time away from home and realised what my mum had been trying to convey to me all those years. My father, from Santa Catalina, had never emphasised it so much, having been born here too. It was my mum, the outsider, the globetrotter, who opened our hearts towards this road of gratitude every day since I can remember.

I’m a proud “product of tourism” as my parents met working together at the Hotel Bonanza in Illetas. I was privileged to be raised in a multilingual and cosmopolitan surrounding, which I also appreciate every day more. When you are a kid you don’t really question things much until you start going to friends’ houses, doing sleepovers, meeting other parents, seeing how they live, other realities… The same thing happens to Majorcans regarding Majorca! If you’re so lucky to be born here, you don’t really know how privileged you are until you start travelling and visiting, or even better, living in other parts of the world.

I made the documentary “MAJORCA IS NOT MAGALUF” as I was (and am) really tired of so many Brits and Spaniards thinking that Majorca is just Magaluf and that Magaluf is only The Strip (Punta Ballena)… Such bad press has always been an outrage and makes matters worse!

Indeed I every day love Majorca more for its breathtaking beauty, landscape, culture and geographical location in the world. From pretty rustic villages to Caribbean-esque beaches, Majorca offers everything but skiing. How can you not fall in love with it! For me, Majorca is the perfect place to live, work and cherish. When tourists and outsiders bother to get to know its culture and its people a tiny bit more, the magical ride begins and thus the true love story never ends.
